Sessions

Kaizen Pilates offers pilates, barre and massage sessions at various locations.

Pilates

During my Pilates classes I like to include a variety of elements so there’s a little something for everyone.
I usually start with a gentle bit of mobilisation and stretching before commencing the main part of the class – the Pilates-based exercises! There will be a class routine that I will have devised and put together, but there are always ways of making things a little more achievable or challenging, depending on the participants. We will usually work in varying positions – supine, prone, side, kneeling and even standing. This means that we are never in one position for too long and we get to work our whole body.
I always finish with a bit of relaxation, which I like to change from week to week – perhaps a little breathing and meditation, using a massage ball to release muscle fascia in the hands and feet or gentle neck release.
The classes change week to week, often day to day and I incorporate different pieces of equipment varying from resistance bands to Pilates balls. As one of my lovely ladies recently commented – who knew you could do so much with a Pilates circle!
I’d like to think that my classes provide people with their ‘happy place’ and a chance to get away from general stresses of everyday life. At the same time they are challenging and hopefully show my clients they can achieve things they didn’t realise they could.

Barre

Barre classes follow a particular routine, as devised by Total Barre. We start with some gentle mobilisation, and carry on throughout the hour working from the legs, arms and abs and everywhere else in between!
Private or individual sessions can be arranged if you feel you would benefit more from some 1:1 tuition or would like to share the time with another person. Please contact me for more details.

Massage

Having left behind managing the busy environment of the beauty department in a residential spa, I now concentrate on Swedish massage.
This is usually done in the client’s home to allow total relaxation and no need for them to travel anywhere.
The treatments are totally prescriptive – meaning that you aren’t tied to a particular routine. If you need your back, legs and head massaging, then that’s what we’ll do. If you want the whole time spent on your back, neck and shoulders then that’s fine too!
